Special Stamp and First Day Cover issued to honour Ven. Dr. Henepola Gunarathana Nayaka Thera

A Special Stamp and First Day Cover was issued on Sunday to honour Ven. Dr. Henepola Gunarathana Nayaka Thera, the Chief Sanghanayaka of North America who has done yeomen service to the society and Buddha Sasana at the ‘Dharma Rashmi’ Poson Zone in Homagama under the patronage of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena. The biography of the Ven. Dr.Henepola Gunarathana Nayaka Thera was also launched in the NSBM Green University Auditorium, a part of the Poson Zone. Here the Minister Dr. Gunawardena presenting the Special Stamp and First Day Cover to Dr. Ittapane Dhammalankara Thera, the Mahanayake of the Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha. Ven. Dr. Henepola Gunarathana Nayaka Thera has done yeomen service while spreading the Dhamma and Buddhist meditation practices around the globe since 1954. The book ‘Mindfulness in Plain English’ authored by the Thera has been identified by the New York Times as the best book on meditation. The Thera was also named as one of the three most influential Buddhist monks in the world by the Wisdom magazine.
